China’s Xiaomi has made plans to produce processors for mobile devices for some time and they made their intentions clear when they created a Weibo official page for new brand, which was translated by the Westerners as “Pinecone”.
The official translation might be different, but we will find that soon enough, as Xiaomi sent invitations for a special event that will take place at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, on 28 February.
Xiaomi will be just the forth smartphone manufacturer to have in-house made processors. The other three are Apple, with their A-series processors, Samsung that makes the Exynos platform and Huawei which is promoting more and more its Kirin chipsets.
Currently there are no details about how powerful Pinecone processors will by find all that we need to know next week.
