Probably one of the most important presentations within the MWC 2018 belongs to those from Huawei who presented the “RoadReader” project.
Huawei has thus become the world’s first mobile device maker to use smartphone with an Artificial Intelligence to drive a car.
The “RoadReader” project forces the boundaries of Huawei’s object recognition technology and tests the learning capabilities, speed and performance of devices with AI technology.
Unlike other unmanned cars that simply detect obstacles, Huawei has turned a Porsche Panamera into a car without a driver who not only sees but, very importantly, understands its surroundings.
This means that it distinguishes between 1,000 different objects, including a cat or a dog, a ball or a bicycle, managing to decide the most appropriate way to act.
Huawei’s “RoadReader” project takes advantage of the already-integrated AI capabilities of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro smartphone. The device uses Artificial Intelligence to automatically recognize objects like cats, dogs, food, and others, helping people take pictures as a professional.
Poate smartphone-ul tău să conducă o mașină autonomă? HUAWEI Mate10 Pro este primul smartphone cu inteligență artificială care poate conduce un Porsche. Convinge-te urmărind clipul de mai jos! #Mate10Pro

However, as part of its ongoing mission of making the impossible possible, Huawei has used the technology already available in its smartphones, demonstrating its functionality and ability to handle even the most advanced technology developed to be used in the case of non-motorized vehicles.
