Google might announce Android O’s official nickname next week

Android 8.0 is the next major update of Google’s operating system for mobile devices and is also known as Android O, but the company hasn’t announced the official nickname of this version.

The current versions, Android 7.x.x, is also known as Android Nougat and about the next version, most rumors indicated it could be Oreo, after the famous biscuits, but that’s not for sure anymore.

But we should find the nickname next week, as the latest rumors suggest Google will announce it, Monday, August 21. That might have been the day when the current Google Pixel smartphones should’ve received the updates for Android 8.0, but last week’s rumors suggested that the roll out was delayed for unknown reasons and the release date is yet TBD.
