Xiaomi is one of the top dogs in the Asian smartphone market, specially in China and India, but never really ventured outside Asia, even though they’ve established local distribution channel in other countries.
But now the Chinese tech firm plans to flood the world with 2,000 new stores within the next three years. Half of those stores will be opened overseas with partners and the other half will be owned and operated by Xiaomi in China.
These are not just rumors. Xiaomi’s senior vice president Wang Xiang share the companiy’s big ambitions to keep growing abroad, in the next few years. “We will definitely be a global player. You will see us in almost every country,” said Wang in an interview for CNBC.
It’s not the first time we’ve heard about Xiaomi’s plans to expand, lately. About a month ago, we’ve found out that Xiaomi was hiring personnel for its first physical store in Greece.
