Xiaomi officially unveils Mi 5c – the first smartphone to be powered by in-house produced processors

China’s Xiaomi announced the launch of the Mi 5C smartphone, the first one to be powered by the new mobile platform, developed in-house, Pinecone.

The new Pinecone platform that equips Xiaomi Mi 5C, comes with octa-core 2.2 GHz Surge S1 processors along with Mali-T860MP4 GPU, 64-bit architecture and includes VoLTE support. The new smartphone has 3 GB LPDDR3 of RAM and 64 GB internal storage.

Xiaomi Mi 5C features a 5.15 inch Full HD display and it runs on Android 7.1 with MIUI interface on top. The camera set consists in a 12 MP main rear ultra-sensitive camera sensor with 1.25μm large pixel size and a 8 MP front shooter for selfies with smart beauty 3.0.

Mi 5c is equipped with a 2850 mAh battery along with support for fast charging with 9V/2A charger. It sports a metal body and weighs just 132 grams.

Mi 5C is priced at 1499 Yuan (€205 or $220) and will be available for sale in China from 3rd March. Xiaomi is yet to announce any detail about its availability in other countries such as India.
