With more than 200 million sales, Windows 8 is still behind its predecessor

Microsoft reported over 200 million sales of Windows 8, after more than 15 months of availability. Compared to the shipment of more than 240 million Windows 7 licences, after its first 12 months on the market, we can say that this latest Windows 8 OS is lagging.

Among the reasons for this Windows 8’s slower rate, are the users’ low interest in Microsoft’s Surface tablets and the shortage of optimized apps.

Still, we have to wait until April, when Microsoft releases the most important Update 1 for Windows 8.1, which promises to bring back the classic desktop and better compatibility with budget tablets.
