Windows Phone 7.8 update lands ahead of Q1 2013 release date

According to dutch WP-blog, the update to Windows Phone 7.8 is now available in the Netherlands for the Lumia 800. A Nokia spokesman later confirmed that the update is now live for the budget-oriented Lumia 510 in select markets, which further confirms the update is launch-ready. The official target release date from Microsoft remains Q1 2013.

Windows Phone 7.8 is the last official update for the older generation WP7 devices. It’s supposed to land on the Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900. Confirmed changes bring its look and feel closer to WP8, including a new homescreen, resizable tiles, redesigned Xbox Live application, new themes. Nokia also promised new camera lenses, an updated transfer app, a Ringtone Maker and more.
