The Huawei Ascend P2 will be (almost) water and dust resistant


The Ascend P2, which Huawei will show off at MWC 2013 in Barcelona, will be a water-and-dust resistant device in the same vein as its sibling – the Ascend D2. The tricky part is that the D2 has the full IP67 sertificate, meaning you can actually dive and shower with it, while the P2 has the lowlier IP54 that only withstands splashes. While both standards are very welcome in their respective devices, showering with your smartphone is a bad, bad idea and you shouldn’t do it regardless of its ability to.

The Ascend P2 will be remarkably thin and perhaps it is the different materials and construction that didn’t allow it to obtain the IP67 seal of approval. The smartphone doesn’t seem to be bothered by it one bit. Instead, he’s enjoying the bright, sunny, beachy side of life and chatting up babes from the hand of his lucky owner…
