asiqo, developed by Lorand R. Minyo and Mircea Patachi, is the winning Romanian idea for the national selection of “Telekom Innovation Contest”, a competition dedicated mainly to students and entrepreneurs with startup ideas.
The winning idea is a platform which will enable advertisers to get to know the global audience of their ads (e.g. TV ads, billboards, magazine ads, flyers and in-store advertisement). asiqo creates a bridge between the online and offline audience and enables advertisers to know the performance of their promos in real time.
Out of all ideas submitted by teams in Romania, the eight most promising ones had to pitch in front of a jury formed by representatives of Romtelecom, COSMOTE Romania and hub:raum Krakow in order to find the Romanian team with the most innovative idea that will represent the country in the Champions Pitch, the final event of the contest.
At the Champions Pitch event on June 27th in Krakow, Poland, asiqo will compete against teams from Slovakia, Hungary, Montenegro, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Israel, Poland, Croatia, Germany, Italy and the UK. Between June 23rd and 26th, Lorand R. Minyo and a member of the team can join the other finalists at a four-day Startup Training Program. On top, the winning team will take the stage at the “Long Night of Startups” on September 6th in Berlin, at which up to 6,000 guests are expected.
Telekom Innovation Contest is powered by Telekom Innovation Laboratories, Deutsche Telekom’s incubator programs hub:raum and Kitchen Budapest, as well as many national companies of Deutsche Telekom. In Romania it is coordinated at national level by Romtelecom and COSMOTE.
Creative teams of students, entrepreneurs with startup ideas, young IT startups from Romania could submit their ideas on www.telekom-innovation-contest.com in the following categories: “Cloud-Based Productivity”, “Future Media & Communication”, “Internet of Things”, “Cyber Security”, “Reality Data” and “Smart Energy”.
The rewards for the international competition include the opportunity to negotiate investments of up to EUR 150,000, inclusion in international startup programs, service packages like Amazon servers, and interactions with highly visible experts within the international Deutsche Telekom Group.
The 2014 Telekom Innovation Contest
Telekom Innovation Contest was initiated in 2013 by Telekom Innovation Laboratories in Berlin, T-Mobile Poland, and Hungary-based Magyar Telekom. By April 15 2014, more than 500 teams from 46 countries had registered in this year’s contest. 326 of these teams submitted ideas in six categories.
The 2014 the contest has strongly focused the trends “Cloud-based Productivity” and “Future Media & Communication”. 60 percent of all entries were submitted in these categories. In global comparison, Germany, Macedonia, Hungary, and Romania are leading the way. Every fourth idea was filed by non-European teams, for instance, from Canada, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and South Africa.
