TCL got FCC approval for a new BlackBerry smartphone

TCL is preparing a new BlackBerry-branded smartphone and after receiving certification from the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Alliances, the Chinese company has got certification from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which means the phone is good to go in North America.

The phone has been registered under at the three organisations under four model numbers in total, BBD100-1, BBD100-2, BBD100-3, BBD100-6, which might indicate different RAM/storage options. At FCC it appears also as “Krypton”

Spec-wise, rumors suggest a full touch screen, no physical QWERTY keyboard, Full HD resolution, a Snapdragon 625 chipset, which is an indicator for a mid-range smartphone, 4GB of RAM, a 4,000 mAh battery and Android Nougat OS on board. Supposedly, Krypton is IP67 certified, so it’s water and dust resistant.

Getting so many certificates already, we might think that a product launch is imminent, but we’ll wait for more clues.
