One day ahead of the CES 2018, the companies start to unveil the products they are bringing in Las Vegas and Sony just unveiled their new mid-range smartphones, the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 ultra.
The phones look exactly as we’ve seen them in the alleged press images leaked last week, so there’s no surprise when it comes to aesthetics, which is not a necessarily a good thing since Sony stuck with is outdated design.
Specs-wise, the two smartphones are properly equipped for the mid-range segment. There’s a Snapdragon 630 chipset inside, although for a 2018 smartphone we would’ve expected to see the newer and improved Snapdragon 660. Anyway, the SD630 is providing octa-core processors clocked at 2.2GHz.
The XA2 provides just on RAM and storage option: 3GB + 32GB, while the larger model, the XA2 Ultra has more RAM and one extra storage variant: 4GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB.
The phones have pretty good batteries though. The XA2 is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery, while the XA2 Ultra has a 3,580mAh battery.
Xperia XA2 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display, as the Xperia XA2 Ultra got a 6-inch display with the same resolution (1920×1080 px). Both retain the classic 16:9 screen ration.
Since we’re talking about Sony, the two smartphones stand out when it comes to cameras. Both have a 23MP rear mounted camera, but they differ when it comes to selfie cameras. The XA2 has one 8MP frontal sensor, while the XA2 Utra has a dual camera of 16MP.
As for the commercial details, Sony said the both smartphones will be available starting February, in Silver, Black, Blue as common option for both models and one extra color option for each model – Pink for XA2 and Gold for XA2 Ultra. Not details about the pricing though as they say that the recommended prices will be announced for each market before the actual launch in store.
