Samsung trademarks a logo for ”Smart glasses”

- Adrian Ungureanu

The first rumors about a possible launch of smart glasses from Samsung appeared some years ago. I think it was 2012 or 2013 when rumors about Gear Blink device appeared, a device that never materialized.

Now, the hopes of Samsung fans that the South Korean giant could launch a pair of smart glasses are re-emerging as Samsung has trademarked a new logo.

The shape of the logo make us think of an eye, but the most interesting part is contained in the description. Samsung says in the documentation that the logo will be used for “Smart glasses”.

Furthermore, the description also includes a “Computerized vision-assisted eyewear consisting of a camera / computer / display for capturing / processing / displaying an image,” and “(computer hardware for analyzing and configuring vision-assisting eyewear”.

It’s really hard not to think that Samsung is preparing the launch smart glasses with all these descriptions. It remains to be seen when such a device will be released. Rumors suggest we might find out something about that at the end of this month at the Mobile World Congress 2018, which runs between February 26 and March 1 in Barcelona, but it seems to me it would be too soon for that.
