Samsung has formally announced its next-generation octa-core processor. The revised Exynos 5 Octa could bring the four Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores in a big.LITTLE configuration to the market for real this time. According to Sammy, the new chip has double the 3D processing abilities of the original.
The memory has a bandwidth of 14.9 gigabits per second with dual-channel 993MHz LPDDR3 RAM modules. The graphics core has six cores and supports hardware decoding of Full HD video at 60FPS, OpenGL ES 3.0 and OpenCL 1.1
Mass-production of the CPU begins in August. The new Galaxy Note 3 is possibly the first device to appear with it.Source: Electronista
