At the Vancouver SID expo Qualcomm demonstrated its new achievements in displays, definetely beating Samsung and LG’s efforts to the ground. It’s a 5.1-inch display with a resolution of 2560×1440 and 577ppi featuring a new kind of technology – Mirasol. This tech introduces interference with reflected sunlight which brings clearer images and six times higher energy efficiency than traditional LED and OLED displays. A smartphone or tablet with such a display could last days, even weeks.
Qualcomm also showed a 1.5-inch Mirasol display for smart-watches and such. What Qualcomm currently have is merely a prototype, however these new displays should appear on the market in the next year or two.Source: Engadget
