Patent sketch hints that Galaxy Note 9 might get in-display fingerprint reader

Although there were similar rumors about Galaxy Note 8 last year, that didn’t happened in the end. But its successor, the flagship phablet to be released this year, the Galaxy Note 9 could come with a fingerprint reader under the display.

A sketch from a supposed patent from Samsung reveals where the fingerprint sensor will be located on Galaxy Note 9. It will be exactly where the Home button would normally be at the bottom of the screen, in a familiar position, which many users might appreciate.

If we look at the sketch, we should expect Galaxy Note 9 to have a screen that goes all the way down, thus Samsung will be removing another bezel from their smartphones. Galaxy Note 8 has a symmetrical design and has bezels at the bottom and top of the screen. Galaxy Note 9 would only be left with a forehead and no chin.

In case you missed the information, the first company to launch a smartphone to feature an under the display fingerprint reader was Vivo, which recently launched in China the Vivo X20 Plus UD, which uses the fingerprint reader developed by Synaptics.
