Nokia 8 might be the next smartphone to be unveiled by HMD Global, the new maker of Nokia-branded smartphones, and we might get to see it very soon, as well-known leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) brings us new information.
According to him, Nokia 8 will be the flagship everybody has been waiting for from HMD Global and not the Nokia 9, as rumored before. That’s still to be determined, I think, since last week another leak suggested that there are 4 smartphones to be launched by HMD until the end of this year and Nokia 9 is among them.
Is very possible that Nokia 9 could be some sort of phablet and specs-wise might be on par with Nokia 8, but with bigger screen, but that’s just a possible scenario I’m considering, a wild guess, because I’m not sure Evan Blass is right about Nokia 8 being the flagship and not Nokia 9.
Going back to Nokia 8, Blass says it’s going to be unveiled on July 31, which is two weeks from now. He notes in Venture Beat that Nokia 8 will sport a 5.3-inch QHD resolution (2,650 x 1,440 pixels), a Snapdragon 835 chipset, either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and a dual main camera, with two 13MP sensors. Also, if you take a look at the render Blass leaked you see that Nokia 8 will get Carl Zeiss optics, but that should be a surprise since the two companies officially announced their new partnership.
The 4 GB of RAM variant might be out of the question as another previous leak said Nokia 9 won’t get a 4 GB of RAM variant anymore and HMD will go for 6 GB, if not even 8 GB of RAM for their flagship. So, if Nokia 8 is the flagship and not Nokia 9, we could presume that the previous leaks we’re referring to Nokia 8.
As of the price, according to Blass, it might go for a price around €590 (~$675), which would make Nokia’s and HMD’s new flagship a little bit more affordable than other flagships on the market available now or that will be released in the next couple of months. For instance, Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8 are supposedly going to be priced at over €1,000/$1,000, so you get the point.
On a final note, judging by all the amount of rumors my guess would be the Nokia 8 will, truly be a well spec’d smartphone, but Nokia 9 might end up to be the top of the line from HMD Global and Nokia this year.
