HMD Global is expected to release a few Nokia-branded smartphones in this second half of the year. In the first half it introduced Nokia 3, 5 and 6.
Now Nokia 2, 7, 8 and 9 are expected to complete the list until the end of the year. Nokia 8 and 9 are the most anticipated since its expected to be top spec’d.
Nokia 2 will be the next low-end smartphone from HMD Global, probably the cheapest model of the year since it is expected to pe equipped be the very modest Snapdragon 212 chipset from Qualcomm.
Anyway, an unofficial image emmerged on the web comparing it with the Nokia 3, revealing the design of the frontal panel. Judging by this image, we can see that Nokia 2 will be similar in dimensions as Nokia 3, sporting, probably, a 5-inch HD display.
The main difference is that the capacitive buttons from Nokia 3 will be move on the display of Nokia 2, making it, practically, smaller than the display on Nokia 3.
It would be better if we waited a little longer for some new information to leak before we get to excited by the model depicted in this leaked image.
Nokia 2 was supposed to be named Nokia 4, but since number “4” is a bad omen in eastern cultures they decided to change it. Between us, the main problem is in China, were “4” is an unlucky number as “13” is in western cultures and most likely HMD and Nokia would won’t to sell as many smartphones in China as possible, so its only logical that they would pick number “4” for their next low-cost smartphone.
