At the Build 2013 conference Microsoft demonstrated a curious title called “Project Spark”. Much in the same vein as “LittleBigPlanet” for the PS3, this is a game that lets you build a game. “Project Spark” will be out this year for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows 8. It supports a gamepad, kinect, PC periphery and devices with touchscreens. Lead manager of MS Game Studios Dave MacCarthy demonstrated how one of the developers started building a game on a Windows 8 PC with a touchscreen, then continued on a XBox One and finally, played the game on his tablet.
“Project Spark” is a nice example of Microsoft developing an actual ecosystem of hardware and software. Ubisoft’s upcoming “Watch_Dogs” will also let players tune in on a random game with their tablets and help or mangle the efforts of random players, which would make for an interesting and unpredictable type of co-op multiplayer.Source: VentureBeat
