Lenovo is restructuring the smartphone business and a whole series of speculations regarding its future branding strategy appear soon after the news came out.
Soon after it was found that Lenovo will shut down the ZUK Mobile business, rumors said that the Chinese company will launch all future smartphones under the Moto brand.
Well, according to Lenovo Group chairman and chief executive Yang Yuanqing, things are different. Lenovo boss told Reuters on Thursday the company’s China business reorganisation will not affect its mobile business on the mainland.
Yang, speaking after the company reported a return to profit for the year to March, said the company will keep its Lenovo-Motorola dual-brand strategy for it mobile business despite a widening loss.
“We will never phase out Lenovo,” Yang said. I guess it’s pretty clear now that Lenovo is not going to give up on it own brand.
