Will you change the typical taxi driver and his endless life stories for one that knows all your personal data? Think about that for a second, as WSJ reporter Amir Efrati has revealed that Google is thinking of turning its driverless cars into robot taxis. Or merely becoming a car dealer, as Mountain View’s plans are very ambiguous at this point. But we’d rather go with the awesome future vision of a world where Google taxis take you everywhere with the same ease that you navigate the internet with. What’s certain is that Google are in talks with Magna International and Continental AG – two of the leading global car parts manufacturers, for a potential partnership.
Such a project would be very ambitious, as road laws are yet to welcome driverless cards in the overly-crowded traffic, and very expensive – a single Google car carries $150 000 worth of navigation equipment alone.Source: BGR
