Last year, Huawei stated their goal to become the world’s second largest smartphone maker in the world, aiming to overtake Apple in 2018. Well, we’re just half way through 2017 and Huawei is already closing veryu fast on Apple.
Strategy Analytics’ latest market report revealed that in Q2, Huawei and Apple we’re separated by only 0.7 percent in global market share, as Huawei keeps its momentum and Apple lost market share in Q2.
Now, sources from Taiwan’s handset supply chain claim that Huawei is likely to outpace Apple to become the second largest smartphone vendor globally in the third quarter of 2017 as sales of China-based vendor’s high-end P and M series as well as the more affordable Honor-branded models have continued to gain momentum.
But, we do have to mention that if Huawei is going to outpace Apple in Q3, that will happen during an interval of time when Apple fans will save their money to buy the upcoming iPhones, which most likely will become available for sale at the beginning of October, so they will be accounted in Q4.
