HTC U11 was unveiled today and it looks that LG G6, Galaxy S8, iPhone 7 and Huawei P10 have a new competitor, at least on the paper.
HTC’s new flagship sports a 5.5-inci Super LCD display with Quad HD resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, HTC U11 has a Snapdragon 835 chipset, with octa-core CPU at 2.45 GHz, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage.
The main camera has a 12 MP sensor with HTC UltraPixel 3 technology, while the front camera has a 16 MP sensor, which should go well with selfie lovers.
The new phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with HTC Sense interface and it’ll be available with single and dual-SIM support.
Probably the most interesting thing about the HTC U11 is the new interaction mode introduced by the Taiwanese company, which is the HTC Edge Sense. While the squeezing part is the most interesting one, HTC tells us that is more than just that.
HTC Edge Sense will enable users to use different actions to interact with their new smartphone. For instance, you can just raise the phone of smile at the camera to take a picture. Also the camera can be activated be squeezing the sides of the phone as well.
The squeeze feature can be customized, so users can launch their favorite app or game just by squeezing their phone. Also, HTC explains that voice commands will be part of the new HTC Edge Sense solution.
While its a new and interesting feat, I don’t know how much will it get people to buy the phone. HTC still has some fans in the world and they should be happy with the new feature.
Price-wise, in Europe, HTC U11 has a price around EUR750, which means around $820. For HTC’s sake, lets hope U11 will convince smartphone buyers, too.
