HMD Global now owns 500 Nokia patents recovered from Microsoft

- Adrian Ungureanu

Well, it seems that HMD Global really is set to restore Nokia former glory and now it has recovered some of the old legacy.

According to EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) listings 500 patents known to have been in Microsoft’s property are now owned by HMD Global, the company that will produce Nokia-branded smartphones for the next, at least, 10 years.

Among them the Lumia Camera UI is there also, so HMD also got some of the Lumia brand heritage back. Not sure if the Lumia Camera app will be back on Nokia phones, most likely it will not, but its interface might be used in a different app.
