Here’s how Samsung wants to compete with Apple’s FaceID

- Adrian Ungureanu

Samsung uses its face and iris scanners to authenticate their phones with their users, but they are far from being safe. Apple changed the rules of the game last year with their FaceID. Samsung was left in the dust.

Samsung is trying to catch up, but they are still trying to do it manipulating the software. Now new information about their efforts have emerged. It seems that Samsung has come up with something called IntelligentScan.

Basically, to authenticate the user it uses both the face scanner and the iris scanner at the same time to increase precision and security. While the system might be un improvement, I still think that a good picture of the owner will still be enough the hack the system.

It still look like the 3D facial scanning introduced by Apple seems far more safe than any 2D scanning method.
