Google to sweep its RSS Reader in springtime cleaning operation

It’s almost spring out there and Google has geared up for its annual springtime cleaning. They are set to axe Google Reader – a service whose usage may have continously declined, but its still fairly popular amongst people who rely on Google services for daily computing. Users are already trying to make the company change their mind, but in case Google do sweep Reader with their binary broomstick, you should export your feed list with the Takeout service.

There is a glimmer of hope for getting at least a few additional months of usage. Last year Google wanted to get rid of Exchange ActiveSync, but users and Microsoft managed to negotiate a six month postponement.

However, with such a wide plethora of decent RSS readers, we can’t say we’ll miss Google’s all too much. Still, why terminate a perfectly fine working service?
