Google to release Android device manager in August

This month Google plans to release a new app called Android Device Manager. It will support all devices running Android 4.2 or later and it will be available through Play Store. We presume it will also feature a PC version.

The app will allow you to find the whereabouts of your smartphone if its stolen or lost (probably via GPS and GSM signal, which is, sadly, both the most reliable and unreliable solution), to ring it (even if the sound is disabled), and to erase its data remotely.

Until now, Android user had to rely on third party services for functionality similar to Apple’s Find My iPhone. But it looks like Google will catch up to them with a bang.
