Google ditches the first generation of Pixel smartphones

- Adrian Ungureanu

One and a half years after the launch of the first Google Pixel smartphones, the American company decided it was time to take them out of the shelves, a sign that they are no longer in production.

It seems you might be able to find the old Pixels at retailers who still have it stocks, but there aren’t to many left. In the official Google store they are no longer available.

It looks like Google will not offer software updates for them a very long time either. Updates made for the phones will be offered for the next 6 months, while security updates will still be offered for one more year.

So, Google is already making room on the shelves for the new Pixel 3 series expected to be released this fall.
