We’re getting closer to the moment when Samsung’s upcoming flagships are going to be unveiled, specially now that we get to see the retail box for the smaller model, the Galaxy S9.
The phone were officially confirmed to be unveiled at MWC 2018, in Barcelona. The confirmation came directly from DJ Koh, the head of the mobile business at Samsung Electronics. MWC 2018, will debut on February 26, so most likely Samsung will unveil them one day ahead, on 25th.
Anyway, until then we get to confirm some of the phones main specs. The display is a 5.6-inch Super-AMOLED. The actual size is at 5.8 inches, but due to the rounded corners, the visible diagonal on the screen is at 5.6. The screen support Quad HD+ resolution, so it’ll retain the 18.5:9 aspect ratio as Galaxy S8, S8+ and Galaxy Note 8.
This box is for the variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage, but most likely there will me other storage option also. The phone’s main camera has a 12MP sensor, with Dual Pixel, and super slow-motion recording capabilities. The strange piece of information is the variable aperture ( f/1.5 / f/2.4). The selfie camera has an 8MP sensor.
The information on the box also reveal that Galaxy S9 will have iris scanner, wireless charging, AKG tuned speakers and headphones and is water and dust resistant (IP68 certification).
Well, that’s all for now, but there’s plenty of time until the MWC 2018 to find more about Galaxy S9 and its bigger brother the Galaxy S9+.
