First Firefox OS-smartphone goes on sale in June

Mozilla will start selling the first Firefox OS smartphone, an unspecified model at this time, in June. The initial launch will target only emerging markets: Brasil, Columbia, Hungary, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Spain and Venezuela. Moz Foundation CEO Gary Covacs said that the FF phone will reach the US in 2014, the reason for the big delay being Mozilla’s desire to give the OS’s ecosystem enough time to populate itself with a competitive selection of apps.

Firefox OS is as open to developers as Android, but its apps are web-based and actually run in a browser.
