Facebook replaces ‘Other’ folder with a more useful option

Finally, Facebook figured out how useless is the Other folder from its messaging inbox, so it started to eliminate it, mainly because people actually didn’t know of its existence or they never opened it.

This Other folder was the home of all spam messages that got there because the people that send them were not you Facebook friends and you didn’t have any friend in common. This option was available only for desktop and not for the mobile version.

So, Facebook will replace this option with a new one, called Message Request, which will make users able to give you messages only if you are friends or if you have your smartphone contact list synced and each other’s phone number.
