As they promised, HMD Global has launched in China the new Nokia X6, which apparently is nicknamed Nokia Dragon. For those who have watched the rumors around this phone, there will not be any big surprises. In the sense that most of the rumors were correct.
The phone comes with a notched screen, that looks as if it’s not so distracting as on other smartphones borrowed this design feature from Apple, but the back panel is in Nokia’s style, from this new era when the phones are produced by HMD Global. Overall, Nokia X6 doesn’t look half bad. Maybe I got used to the notched screens – which I still don’t find them attractive – but the notch on the Nokia X6 doesn’t seem to stir any emotions for me.
The specifications set is one for an mid-range segment. As expected. Snapdragon 636, 4GB and 6GB RAM options, fingerprint reader and even some AI support for the cameras.
But maybe the prices are the best features of this new Nokia smartphone. The cheapest version, the one with 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage, costs around €170 ($205), and the 6GB RAM + 64GB costs around €225 ($265).
The phones will be sold starting May 21 by two Chinese retailers, JD and Suning, but pre-orders can already be made.
Unfortunately, there is still no information if this new smartphone will be launched outside of China.
