Apple announce 16GB camera-less Retina iPod Touch

Out of nowhere, Apple announced a $229 sixth-gen iPod Touch. It’s not that much different than the fifth-gen model. What it offers is a 4-inch Retina display, dual-core A5 CPU and front FaceTime camera. What it omits is a rear camera, whose disappearance has helped the iPod become even slimmer at 6.1mm thick.

This model will be sold only with 16GB of storage in black and gray versions. It doesn’t say which version of iOS it runs, but we hope Apple won’t neglect putting iOS 7 on it. The next iOS update, which features a major change of look and feel thanks to sir Jonny Ive handling the design, will be revealed on June 10.
