9 out of 10 smartphones sold in China run Android. In other news, the sky is blue. 90% of 1.1 billion cellphone subscribers in China apparently run The Robot on their smartphones. Apple’s iOS powered devices have a 4.2% market share, and Symbian still holds up with 2.4%.
It is suggested that Android smartphones’s sheer availability and cutthroat-pricing are behind the situation. Just have a look at the quad-core smartphones you can buy there for under $300. An iPhone costs around $726 in China. It seems “feature” phones are no longer an adequate option in the People’s republic with so many smartphones being sold left and right, and the iPhone is just too expensive when you have an Android smarphone for absolutely every taste and price.
