Ex-AMD chief financial officer and senior vice president Thomas J. Seifert, who ended his 28 year long carreer within the troubled chip maker in September, has landed the same positions at wireless and service provider Brightstar Corp. The news come straight from their official press release. Seifert will replace Dennis J. Strand who will transfer to a new business unit – Brightstar Financial Services, focused on “innovative financing solutions”.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Seifert said: “Brightstar is the industry leader in a rapidly expanding global market, and as CFO I plan to leverage the company’s success to increase the trajectory of financial performance.” He will devote his expertise to “corporate accounting, strategic financial planning, income taxes and corporate treasury, and information technology”… sounds like the man will keep busy!
Famed for his time in AMD, Thomas Seifert also worked as group vice president and general manager of the Memory Products Group at Infineon Technologies AG, as CEO and COO of Wireline Communications Business Group, and held executive positions at Altis Semiconductor. “His background and experience with an established multibillion dollar organization are a great fit for Brightstar and will be a plus as we continue to expand our reach into the wireless ecosystem, seeing and filling gaps in the marketplace.” – commented Brightstar chairman and CEO R. Marcelo Claure.
