Airbus presents a new flying car concept

- Adrian Ungureanu

Airbus’ plans to introduce flying cars aren’t new but the French company release a new video to show what’s its vision on next generation of transportation vehicles that will me able to run on roads and to get airborne as well.

As you will see in the video, it’s a hybrid between a car and a quad-copter drone and it’s not necessary that the wheel platform and the flying platform to be attached at the same same. Actually those two components are used separately and it might involve sharing these platforms among users.

The main problem with getting this hybrid vehicles would be that current legislation is not ready for this type of transportation. Anywhere around the globe you need a pilot license to fly any type of flying means of transportation.

Airbus’ concept suggest that autonomous flight might be the key to get their vehicles airborne, without forcing the “users” to get a flying permit.

It is said that Airbus will launch Pop.Up by the end of this year but it’s hard to believe that we’re so close of the start of a new era of transportation, no matter how much we want to be able to fly with the same vehicles that runs on the ground.
